Creating Art in 2023 — Recreating Art Challenge

 



I never thought I would be an artist... let alone a model, but better yet, a "hand model"! This week thanks to the recreate art challenge, I made my debut in the modeling and art world. Gabrielle came up with the brilliant idea after we ran into each other on campus to join her in the recreate artwork challenge. I did not know exactly what she was talking about because I had yet to catch up with this week's challenges. However, I am so glad that I did! This has shown me another way of being creative in the digital world I did not think of before this course. The picture not only meets the requirements of the challenge but also tells several different stories. The stories range from the many "takes" it took to get the right picture, the decision on which image to recreate, or even how this will be a cherished memory with a great friend and cohort mate. Another way to engage in networked knowledge activities, and I am glad that Twitter and other platforms we use in class were able to like, comment, and even share our picture.

Competitive in a Digital World

 Joining Friday's Zoom session about the various challenges and badges we will have the opportunity to engage with throughout the summer initially brought out the competitor in me. Reddit Communities! Joining Like-Minded Individuals

  Joining the world of Reddit this week has been a major highlight for me! I had heard of Reddit before but only partially paid close attention to what individuals could do on Reddit. I assumed it was another place to offer reviews and commentary on topics of interest. As I began to work on the Community Norms assignment, I knew I wanted to participate in the full version; the full version offered a unique perspective to continue enhancing my knowledge and skills with the various digital and social media sites for class. Although I was excited to participate and engage in Reddit communities, there are a TON to choose from. Leaving me to feel overwhelmed by the many options.   Personal Vs. Professional Social Media Identity Do you have to keep separate your personal and professional lives on social media? Why or why not? For a long time, when thinking about social media, I believed that my personal and professional lives could not co-exist on the same social media site/platform. I thought this to be true because I followed what others told me to do rather than what I felt worked for me. Often times I heard professionals share that their personal and professional identities are not the same.
